Emirates Integra Medical and Surgery Centre is a new, innovative facility located in the heart of Dubai Healthcare City. We use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to ensure the highest possible quality of patient care. Ultrasound imaging is one such technique, using sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body. It is used to help diagnose sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation. It is relatively inexpensive, provides better quality images, and can be convenient to use as compared to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a unique specialty that is emerging as a beneficial diagnostic tool particularly for sports medicine and rehabilitation practitioners to use in identifying structural changes within the tissues and joints. A small transducer, called a probe, is used at the sight of injury to transmit high- frequency sound waves through the body. The probe catches the waves as they bounce off the bone or tissue and creates an image from them.
Dr. William Murrell, MS, uses the “real-time” capability of ultrasound allowing for dynamic evaluation of joints and tendons which can be a valuable assessment tool during surgery.
At Emirates Integra we utilize high-quality portable yet secure solution ultrasound machines that gives refined image quality and tissue differentiation for better diagnostic confidence, dynamic real-time examination and improved safety and confidence for injections, aspiration procedures, and nerve blocks. Ultrasound guided injections also allow for the use of thinner, less painful needles which can afford more comfort to patients. These procedures do not require anesthesia, and there is no radiation from the ultrasound machine.
Dr. William Murrell, MS, uses ultrasound-guided injection to direct treatment to the shoulder joint of the patient. He is assisted by Jocele Bulawan, Radiographer, and Amrutha Murali, Nurse.
With a holistic, multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach to delivering high quality service, the talented professionals at Emirates Integra seek to exceed expectation for patient care and effective outcomes.
